I've been ransacking every nook and cranny in my house the last five or so days. We're talking pantry, laundry room, front yard, bedroom closet, bathroom closet, etc. Quite possibly it's good ol' fashion spring fever, I don't know, but I've had the distinct feeling lately that junk is lurking in every corner. Do you know that feeling? The one where everywhere you turn, every space be it floor or countertop, seems over-crowded, overly-dusty, totally dysfunctional?
Functionality is a big word to me these days as I search for ways to wrestle more from our living space with D getting ginormous and adventurous. And because he's into everything and everything needs to be braced for that fact, I end up feeling like any remnant of what made my soul smile in various spaces is methodically being eliminated. I'm fundamentally fine with that since his cuteness levels are RI-diculous :). However, I'm a bit stubborn to just give in to not only D-afying every part of my home but surrendering space to uselessness or downright unattractiveness. Therefore I'm purging anything not useful and organizing what remains so things feel a bit more lovely to my feminine soul.
Yesterday I decided to not just throw out 2/3 of my out-dated pantry stock, but incorporate some storage bins and cover the shelves in a delicious, green shelf liner with a delicate organic print on it of vines and leaves. Sounds like overkill for a pantry I know, but I have to tell you, I've been opening and closing that door obsessively with a smile on my face for the last 14 or so hours (minus the time sleeping of course). I've decided that liner is my muse going forward as I de-gunk our spaces. Surely there is some sort of "lovely shelf liner" I can apply to all the tired zones we live and use, right? Well dog gone it, I'm sure as heck-fire gonna find out :)
